Show a family moment to the resident

How assigned staff record that a family message or photo was shown to the resident.

Family manager

What this area is for

When a family member sends a message or photos, staff can sit with the resident and show that moment.

Then staff record Shared with the resident. That is a record that it was presented. It is not a claim that the resident read, understood, enjoyed or replied.

Before you start

  • You need a Family Presenter or Coordinator role, or Family management access.
  • A job title does not grant this.
  • Have the resident with you, if you are going to show the moment now.
  • If the resident is unwell or does not want to look, stop. The screen can wait.

Step-by-step: show a moment

  1. Sign in to ÁitFoirne with your own login.
  2. Open Family Portal, or the Family staff workspace if that is the door you use.
  3. Open the correct resident.
  4. Find the family moment that is ready to share.
  5. Show it to the resident on the device.
  6. Confirm Show to resident / record that it was presented.
  7. The family member may later see Shared with the resident’s name.

Care-home posts

A Family Coordinator or a manager can also write a care-home post for one resident. It is not a message to every family in the building.

A Family Presenter can show content, but cannot publish a care-home post.

What this does not do

  • It does not send an email or text to the family.
  • It does not open Clinical.
  • It does not mean the resident understood the photo.
  • It does not create a reply from the resident.

Questions people ask

The family asks “Did Mammy see it?”

You can say staff recorded that it was shown, if that is true. Do not say the resident enjoyed it unless you saw that yourself and the home’s own notes allow it. Family Portal does not record enjoyment.

I can see Today’s Care in Clinical. Is that the same inbox?

No. Today’s Care is Clinical Daily Care. Family Activity is Family Portal only.
